A (nearly) Half Yearly Review
I posted back in January about the idea “Is Money Saving the New Money Saving?”
With the rise of the savvy consumer, who now spend hours trawling through the internet, searching for savings, one can only imagine how this type of new breed consumer is going to effect the economy.
When was the last time you stopped and really thought about the product that you were about to hand you hard earned cash over for? I imagine even today on the way to work a small thought crossed your mind; Am I really getting the best deal for this? I know it did for me.
Sites such as Money Saving Expert all put forward the idea that you can con these huge multi-national companies out of there money. Which in my mind brings forward the interesting point, that where, morally, is the line to draw? As we are all effected. I have found myself in recent times more likely not to shop at certain stores? Would it not be extremely interesting to see what would happen if we boycotted a certain shop? Inevitably it would crumble, woo hoo some might say, rather look at the 3,000 people who have just lost there job!
Have us consumers caused the current economic climate, due to the fact that we only have ourselves to blame, as we where the people who took advantage of banks offering us loans etc, we where sold and idea and brought it.
I feel that over the last few months, I especially have been extremely careful when it comes to taking out products and refraining from overusing my credit card, its been interesting however, as to exactly how easy it is to take a product to the extreme i.e maxing a card.
I have found that as soon as I entered the previously untouched world or credit cards, I had a slightly empowered feeling which resulted in the ill thinking that I was X amount better off ever month, this thinking could have led me into severe financial difficulties should I have been uncanny about it.
After research into CC deals I have found that through by far the best deal is to make use of the switch and save that the majority of banks now offer, in a sense:

With the last few months recent MP Expenses scandals brings about this question – Where do we draw the line? If its within the rules is it time to play ball? Or is it time to sit back and truly think what we are doing could be wanton?
