Album of the Week

For a while now I have been wanting to write some kind of feature about what I’m presently listening to, the worst thing being that im listening to so much right now that It’s hard to get a ‘top’ album of the current week. I think perhaps the best thing to do is to put a few different tracks on here (w/ Spotify links) and then you can actually go and explore other artists which are similar and hopefully you can discover something new.

In the last few weeks my band had a country wide jaunty of playing some gigs and getting well and truly leathered ( I tried telling a Scot I had been battered all week and he assumed I had been beaten up).

We like a lot of different types of music as a band and collectively there are a few groups/artists which we all adore. We brought Rocksound magazine mainly because of the free CD, but generally it has some ‘alright’ stuff on it.

I have been a fan of Converge for a long time a favourite album of there’s is obviously Jane Doe but newer efforts are just as good. Dark Horse is one such track with a pounding first riff which even had my classic rock friend head banging. Converge have always been known for their uncompromising style, a form of throat shredding brutality which many of today’s artists take inspiration from. I heartily recommend listening to the track Dark Horse which is available here and just sitting back and enjoying perhaps one of the best metal ish songs of 2009.

…And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead are a band I actually walked out on (stupidly) at a festival a few years ago. I dont actually know why I did this. I stuck around for perhaps 2 songs and then walked, up there with the stupidest choices I have ever made. I had however just watched Raekwon from the Wu Tang Clan and he was pretty good, perhaps my brain just couldn’t cope with the sheer rock aggression coming from the band commonly known and abbreviated as “Trail Of Dead”. Since my stupid walk out I have not had the chance to see them so I’m going to be double nice to the boys and recommend 2 Albums. Firstly “Madonna” and secondly “The Century of Self” Simply you must listen to both of these albums they are incredible as is anything they have done.

Mr. Hudson. Now this is not a plug and I most certainly do not like this man. What a looser. Whilst in Scotland last week and seeking a break from any form of heavy music which was trust me encouraging me to drink a stupid amount of alcohol. We Put the radio on and this idiot was on every single station all the time with the frankly shocking “White Lies” song, can I be bothered to criticise this looser any more, No. Its just its kinda like CAN repitition which has been horribly bastardised. Small picture for him. Attn. CAN FANS, I’m not comparing the two.

Good news, Music fans, Sonic Youth where played on Radio 1 the other night, “Kool Thing which has to be a good thing for guitar music. Listen to Sonic Youth but don’t buy the Goo Lp T shirt.

OK so check it out (apart from Mr. Hudson he is rubbish). Spend your savings on these albums you will not regret it!

I'm completely sorry for the over emphasis on the 'oo'. I just think its necessary to be over the top with such a waste of space.

Yea, this webpage is by far a single of the most effective everywhere that I’ve seen. Many thanks so considerably for helping me out.
