Emerging Fashion

Fashion has for a long time been about who can create the most extrovert piece of clothing etc. Recently 3rd world countries many in Africa have been contributing to this with designers springing up all over wishing to have a piece of the pie that is fashion.  Through the internet almost  the greatest advocate for fair trade and ones ability to market and sell goods at a Western price. Many have found that they have been lifted out of the spiral of poverty, some by the idea of entrepreneurial lending to encourage commerce and trade in impoverished countries.

For a long time you could buy African made handbags at a high standard for a low price, providing you could afford the air fare.
Now with the influx of internet only trade it means that you do not need to travel only to you wallet/purse to pick out your credit card!

So in the interest of encouraging commerce in these countries – continue to buy foreign and save lives at the same time.

Interesting post. I’m not sure about fashion being ‘about who can create the most extrovert piece of clothing’ I think style and wearability play a part in it too.
Did you know that lots of people are buying British now, perhaps as a response to the current economic climate? (see here: http://www.wordsaboutthings.co.uk/buying-british-fashion-protectionist-or-just-stylish/)
I like the idea of buying from someone who really needs the money however, particularly if the product has an interesting back story.

Yes, Thomas in part I agree with you about the “style and wearability” aspect. In terms of cat walk fashion which largely influences high street “fashion” which us mere mortals can afford, the extrovert designs we see in Paris and Milan for example then stem down through to the streets you might find that for example The Whole Truth has some more answers! ;)
