Frugal Living Eh!
There is simply nothing wrong with ‘frugal living’. It’s easily done and provides actually for a distraction away from spending money (obviously if you enjoy looking at charts of your spending!). Simply put you don’t have to eat less or even live a ‘lower standard of life’. Its really just a way of changing your habits of spending money on the unnecessary.
A very basic idea is not spending money on your work breaks on sandwiches from those expensive coffee shops on every highstreet – stopping doing this means that actually your ‘spend’ on a daily basis WILL go down fairly considerably.
Below are listed a few very simple ways of cutting your spending and allowing you to put money aside into savings.
- Proper maintenance of your vehicle will save money on the fuel. If the engine of your vehicle is proper maintained and tuned up than it will consume less fuel to run and give good mileage.
- Use Energy Efficient light-bulbs – Replace the bulbs and tube lights of your house with CFL or LED bulbs and tube lights. This is energy efficient and can reduce the electric bill. One should also switch off the electronic appliances if not in use. People often forget to turn off the computer, television or hi fi system when they go to bed, this increases the electricity bills and frankly is fairly wasteful.
- Evaluate your wardrobe and make a list on what are the things that are needed to buy when going on shopping for clothes. This will save your money on random buying of clothes which you don’t need actually. If you are chick – then this is going to be probably the hardest.
- Bulk buying of groceries and other items are beneficial to save money, as most of the stores provide 10-20% discount on bulk buying. Also, you can save money on the membership card of the stores if you are subscribed with one.
However you choose to make a difference in your life its fair to say that online there is a plethora of information readily availiable sites like Money Saving Expert in the UK is especially helpful, as is The SITE a website predominately aimed at the 16-25 year old market – but then again who’s to say that good advice can’t transcend up the ages?
Whatever you use the internet for, its always worth remembering that in every corner of it are people who have been through the same hardships and strive and most of the time are willing to help out where they can – take for example the story of the man who was so skint that someone kindly offered to pay his rent for that month and ended up giving him enough money to survive (can’t find link) – in fact he actually gave him enough for 3 months.
Use the internet and use it for yourself its the one tool which I use on a daily basis and find extremely helpful.
