Living Wage or a lovely Working Wage?
In many ways this picture sums up the frustration that many feel when it comes to saving money. It always seems that unless you are in a position to save money by being on as many would coin a ‘living wage’ as opposed to the ‘living wage’ that so many of us are accustomed to.
Buying a Savings Account
When I look at the options for putting money aside for that metaphorical ‘rainy day‘ which seems to come into fruition on a more frequent basis then it should be allowed. I get to thinking: I have put what (in my own real terms) is a substantial amount aside and the rewards seems to be at a minimum.. This is something I imagine a great deal of people who live on a ‘working wage’ feel.
Of course one who earns a working wage is not going to put enough money (and live comfortably) into a savings accounts, whereas someone who earns a living wage is going to be able to enjoy the benefits which come with paying in large amounts of money each month. This is by no means the fault of the banks. In my own humble opinion I believe it to be the fault of reasons:
- Incorrect Housing Prices to wages ratio (First time buyer mortgages in my own area are hard to come by. Why? Because people simply at lower levels are not awarded the correct amount of pay to be able to put money aside into savings accounts).
- Living near a coastline? Expect to pay more for your water bills then the rest of the country. The Response? Dirty Beaches not cleaned with my extra money
Two perhaps fairly trivial points there. I guess the overwhelming factor against my arguement is generally how people go about conducting their monthly finances… I for one am the biggest loser when it comes to making sure I budget efficiently….
