What Should I give up?
A couple of weeks ago it was the end of Lent: the time of the year when you are meant to give something up for some reason that is beyond me. Some people give up chocolate or even drinking alcohol of what not. Notably a Catholic tradition which seems to have transcended boundaries and is now seen by many as a good way of cleansing the body from all the bad stuff that we love to fill it with.
Having never taken part in any kind of Lent activity I decided after this year’s lent that instead of just doing it for the period of 40 days as proscribed by the Catholic church, I would look at everything happening in my life, and decided to permanently erase some of the tragically fun but ultimately silly activities that I find myself ‘getting involved with’ on a regular basis. This is feeling also slightly tragic, all talk, no action.
Here are a run down of 5 things which I really think would be beneficial in giving up:
- Smoking : Probably the most destructive thing in many peoples life right now. Highly addictive and highly silly, but it feels so good eh!
- Alcohol : Another silly thing, waste of money, its like paying for bottles water. Bit pointless
- Chocolate : If there is one thing I dont want to be its Fat and Spotty. Stopping eating the amounts I currently do will help.
- Worrying : I tend to find that most of the time I’m worrying about something or another, be that how much money I have to put aside into savings accounts or even how I am going to afford a food shop without heading to my instant access savings account.
- The Internet : Perhaps the most unrealistic out of all my suggestions as my job involves being on a computer and perhaps even on the t’internet. I’d like to stop though.
If I succeed at any of the above. Be sure to check back to see how I’m getting on.
