    I run a business that is regularly reviewed on TripAdvisor. We had a blatantly malicious review, and could prove it was factually inaccurate. contacted TripAdvisor numerous times pointing out the review was malicious, broke their own terms and conditions, and was demonstrably false. Never got a response after numerous attempts. Yet this merits their full attention? Terrible company.

    I’ve stayed same hotel. Same time of the year Dominican Republic 11 years. It is a most wonderful place. Bahia Principe, Romana, Punta Cana. Staff paid a mere pittance for long shifts whilst making your holiday perfect.

    I note that the Beeb sent one of their amateur photographers out on this one. Everyone knows the hole is best viewed from the cash machine side.     I recently visited a shop in Harrogate with 5-star ratings and write-ups to die for.
    It took me less than a minute to look around everything in the bric-a-brac shop and I left feeling rather disappointed.

    My favourite trip advisor anecdote is the one about a pub, closed for refurbishment for a year, getting a bad review mid way through its refurbishment for serving food late. 6 months would indeed be late, more worrying is the fact that the reviewer was clearly never there. Fake reviews are a growing, worrying, trend.

    The hole was great, I’m not going to knock it, but to be honest I wouldn’t go again what with the cost of flights and accommodation. Next year we’re going to do the Scunthorpe Telephone Exchange, I hear it’s a 10 out of 10.

    The wall on China may be slightly longer, but it can’t compete with the complexity and craftsmanship of “The perfect circle”

    The Pyramids seem quite crude in comparison.

    Ridiculous of TripAdvisor to suggest the problem was people’s reviews not being based on first hand experience (especially when photographic evidence is supplied with the review).

    I went yesterday and genuinely did think there might be a queue now for photos. Just one of many rather quirky little details worth noting in a town not noted for tourism.

Had a great week visiting ‘Natwest Hole’ so much to see and do. Tip take sandwiches and hot drink to really appreciate the view. Tip take picture of your head on the hole! Will definitely be going again 10/10.

A pity TripAdvisor aren’t as diligent about handling the vast amount of false reviews and complaints about real places, I’ve been to some places which have had 5* reviews that have clearly been added by the owners/employees themselves and are shockingly bad yet the still do nothing about them.

    Trip Adviser is full of fake reviews. Recently somebody wrote “I had a wonderful day” related to a trip to Old Trafford.

    I was looking at a restaurant review not long ago on TA and it was quite clear the majority of the reviews were fake.

    They are obviously so because they were all generic, giving little if any detail, just things like “it was wonderful”, “The food was to die for” and so on. But no detail at all.

    Why can’t TA do something about fake reviews? How hard can it be ?
